Read moreI grew up climbing on carpet rolls and hiding behind display racks at my parents' flooring store in Washington state. During the summers and winter breaks as a kid I worked at their store, learning about flooring. After graduating with a fine art degree from the University of Washington, I eventually landed a job in interior design. It taught me project management skills that are necessary when doing a home remodel or new build project. In 2008 when the economy collapsed, I went back to work for a flooring design store, which lead to a job calling on architects and designers as a representative for a tile company.
I came to realize that, in every job I worked, I was providing my clients the care and attention I would give if I were the owner of the business. It took me a long time to admit that opening my own store was what I wanted to do. It was with the validation of my family who ran a successful flooring company for almost 40 years, that I decided to start Mod Floors. I envisioned something different than any other store or business I had worked for, and have combined them to create what sets Mod Floors apart from every traditional flooring experience.
